What is EB-5? 2017-10-26T07:51:03+00:00

Employment based, fifth preference visa (EB-5) is the highly-acclaimed Investor Visa Program of the United States that was created in 1990. EB-5 is the fastest and clearest path to permanent US residency (green card).

A foreign investor invests $500,000 of lawfully sourced funds into a US Government authorized EB-5 project. This project must create 10 new US jobs per investor. The investor receives his/her conditional green card within 16-18 months of submitting the initial application (I-526), and a permanent green card 24 months later after filing the final application (I-829). (USCIS estimates).

Will I get my $500,000 investment back? 2017-10-26T12:30:40+00:00

Yes, you can expect your full investment back shortly after your permanent green card is approved. With investing with USIF, the investor also receives 2-3% interest per year on your investment. The return varies per specific investment.

What exactly am I investing in? 2017-10-26T12:31:20+00:00

EB-5 can be used for any business as long as the jobs are created. USIF’s projects are all real estate projects by leading developers in major cities such as New York City. The investor invests in a specific USIF EB-5 entity, which then lends the EB-5 capital to the specified RE project as a small portion (15-18%) of the total capital structure. Note: Real Estate is predominately used for EB-5 capital as the industry provides for maximum job creation.

What is USIF? 2017-10-26T12:32:21+00:00

A US government approved Regional Center operator. USIF structures, organizes and oversees EB-5 investments à raises and pools the needed EB-5 capital per project, lends this capital to the developer of the EB-5 project, and oversees the successful repayment of principal and interest payments to its investors.

How are the jobs created? 2017-10-26T12:52:25+00:00

The US government doesn’t come in and count the actual jobs created. A widely-used RIMS II econometric methodology is applied and the calculation is primarily derived from the overall cost of the new development and other various components such as location and make-up of the development.

USIF provides investment safety by strictly working with the largest and most financially secure real estate developers in the world. We partner with the largest and most financially sound financial institutions (JPMorgan, Blackrock, SL Green) who are providing the senior loans to the developments we invest in. In addition, we have inter-creditor agreements with each of our project’s respective lenders. We will not invest in a project without all financing already in place. We have completion guarantees built into every project. Before we take on a project we perform a rigorous due diligence process with leading law firms (Paul Hastings), real estate advisory firms (Cushman Wakefield) and certified accounting firms (DiSanto Priest).

This sounds too good to be true? 2017-10-26T07:51:41+00:00

It’s not. The US Government wants to spur economic growth and job creation via foreign capital investment. Foreign investors want a green card and they want it fast. Real Estate developers want a low cost of capital. The EB-5 program checks all of these boxes. It’s truly a win-win-win scenario. EB-5 is a highly successful program and it’s been in place for over 27 years. In fact, this program is so popular in China that there’s now a waiting list for Chinese applicants. We believe this program will grow exponentially with Indian investors and we are already seeing it.
